Hi Time to start thinking about nominations for WASP Distinguished Guest Professors, see below. Please let me know if you have someone in my mind. The control department currently has Frank Allgöwer as Distinguished WASP Professor so we know how it works. We will come back with more detailed instructions and deadlines. The process is as follows: * Nomination of candidates during Q4 each year * URG nominates and presents a joint list that is 50/50 balanced * RMG reviews the list and makes a recommendation * The board makes a decision on appointments at a meeting in Q1 or Q2 * Universities hire candidates to start at the earliest in Q3 The WASP Distinguished Guest Professors program is governed by the following: • There will be two annual guest professorships at the highest international scientific level • The program includes all the scientific areas within WASP • Nominations must be balanced (50/50) for gender equality • The distribution of time periods for physical attendance at a WASP University and the duration of the guest professorship is flexible. • The minimum duration for the guest professorship is six months, and the maximum is one year, during a two-year period. A nomination should include • CV • Research plan approx. 2 pages with confirmation that the candidate is prepared to come to Sweden for a minimum of 6 months and a maximum of 12 months during a two-year period starting in autumn 2025. • Letter of support from nominating WASP faculty on approx. 1 page. WASP Community Update will be sent out on September 26th and the WASP Newsletter on September 27th. Send us your tips for this month’s newsletter/s no later than September 19. Please consider that the tips for the newsletter should have a clear connection to research or activities financed by WASP, or be of strong relevance to the WASP community. For example: * News articles in media or published at your university portraying a researcher or covering research financed by WASP * Breakthroughs in ongoing WASP funded projects * Publications in highly ranked/prestigious journals/conferences (add motivation, short popular science summary (max 400 characters) and link to paper if available) * Awards or similar * Prestigious grants * Events and activities (e.g., cluster or WARA activities, upcoming doctoral defenses) All tips are reviewed. We try to include as much as possible, but we need to consider relevance, timing, and the distribution between universities and topics.
